Welcome

Welcome to the website of Redditch Trade Justice Network (RTJN).

Our next meeting is on Thursday 25 th September 2008, 7.30p.m., at Redditch Town Hall.

National Climate March

A number of us connected to the Trade Justice Network went on the coach from Redditch to Climate Change Rally in London in December. About 10,000 people were there protesting for an effective climate change bill.

Redditch marchers at the National Climate RallyIn the speeches George Monbiot, the activist and journalist, took on the whole capitalist system of the world and argued that it would take a ‘revolution of the spirit’ to make the necessary changes in our lifestyles and politics to combat the effects of climate change. He called all those there to put their bodies on the line in the cause.

Caroline Lucas of the Green Party memorably said that some have argued that ‘a vegan in a 4 by 4 does less harm to the earth than a meat-eater on a bicycle.’

Food for thought from all directions! A stimulating if wet day. It was as ever inspiring and energising to be part of such an occasion.

Here are some of the posters people carried showing the related causes people were protesting about. Please click on each picture below for a larger image.
